8 1/2 Stone Paperback Now Publishing August 2020, Releases digitally April 12th

Matthew James Publishing is sad to announce that the paperback version of 8 ½ Stone — the hilarious debut novel from Liz Jones — has been delayed until August 2020. The decision was not one made lightly. However, due to the ongoing situation we find ourselves in with COVID-19, it would be impossible to release this book and distribute it to all of our bookshop and wholesale partners as planned on May 14th.

However, for those of you who prefer digital or just can’t wait to get your hands on this hotly anticipated book, the e-book version of 8 ½ Stone will release on Amazon Kindle and other e-book stores ahead of schedule on April 12th.

We’re incredibly excited to get this book out there and into as many of your hands as possible. We hope you’ll celebrate the digital launch of this brilliant new book on April 19th and again in August when the paperback hits bookshops across the UK.

Two book Birthdays for the debut novel from “The Queen of confessional journalism?” (BBC Radio 4) How fitting.

Thank you,

The Matthew James Publishing Team

Pam has so many problems and all of them will be fixed when she's eight and a half stone.

The debut novel from acclaimed Daily Mail columnist and former Marie Claire editor Liz Jones!

When I reach eight and a half stone…

I will be able to shop in Topshop. I will be able to go swimming and not displace all the water and create a tsunami. I will fit in changing rooms without banging my elbows or exposing the moon of my arse through the curtain when I bend over.

I will be able to fit behind the narrow benches at Ronnie Scott's to listen to jazz instead of being offered a chair at the end of the row. I'll be able to see my toes, which I haven't seen since 1996 without the aid of a selfie stick. I will be promoted and not have my desk moved inside the stationery cupboard for being off-brand.
