Rabbits, Risk & Reward Launch
The Rabbits, Risk & Reward National Launch took place this past Saturday (March 19th) in author Tony Houghton’s home town of Wantage. A celebration of the book in connection with the e-book release earlier this month, it was lovely to spend a day in this beautiful Oxfordshire market town.
Part book signing and part community event, we wanted to make sure that the people of Wantage were involved throughout. Local businesses supplied their time, effort and window space to help us on our way and Wantage Baptist Church were kind enough to provide Tony with a space to read from his unique and intriguing memoir. We would like to thank them all, especially Madhatter Bookshop and The Buzz Cafe for hosting the signing and catering the event, respectively.
Sat in the window of Madhatter Bookshop, Tony signed books and chatted to those browsing the shelves of this one-of-a-kind shop; taking inspiration from its literary namesake and selling both hats and books. It was great to see him interacting with friends within the community and so enthused about his book.
Later in the day we moved on to the Church for an intimate gathering, involving readings from Tony and a musical performance from his wife, Heather Houghton. Tony’s readings captured several aspects of the book – from the comedy of smuggling a rabbit into Belgium, to cycling the El Camino and his shrewd tactics dealing with the Chief Veterinary Officer of Russia – using props to demonstrate and interacting with his audience as he read.
Spending the afternoon with one of our authors in his own community was excellent. To see people excited about Rabbits, Risk & Reward was great for us too. If you haven’t picked up your copy of the book yet you can do so here. We have a limited number of signed copies available too, so act fast.
