London Book Fair 2016

London Book Fair took over The Olympia Conference centre last week, hosting publishers, agents, buyers, web developers and more from all over the world and for the first time in many years, Matthew James Publishing was there too.

The scale of the event was phenomenal; so big that it was hard to get to grips with everything and everyone we wanted to see in just three days. Still, we managed it. After walking around the massive show floor to get the lay of the land and take everything in, we quickly  pressed on and got down to business.

London Book Fair offers a rare opportunity to a publisher like Matthew James: It allows us to meet with people face to face and not just be the name on the other side of the phone or an email exchange. The importance of being able to present yourself, your company and your ideas to other like minded individuals – fellow publishers and potential collaborators – really can’t be understated.

Having almost every aspect of the literary industry under one roof is brilliant. London Book Fair was an incredibly worthwhile experience  for all of us at Matthew James. Not only could the trip prove fruitful from a business perspective, but it also lit a fire under us,

Even with twenty plus years of experience in publishing, we walked away inspired and grateful for the opportunities that may have otherwise never been presented to us. We’re looking forward to returning to London Book Fair next year.
